Amber Gems Tea of the Week

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

We have a particular soft spot for Ceylon tea, having sourced some excellent teas from our own travels in Sri Lanka. This organic tea garden is in the hills above Ravanna-Ella Waterfalls in Sri Lanka and they pluck only the finest leaves. Each batch of tea is made with care in small quantities and sun dried giving each a unique flavour, varying slightly in style according to the field, season and drying time.

We’re delighted to have got our hands on some of the first tea to be produced there. It’s very unusual hand rolled black tea balls, which we’ve named Amba Gems. The resulting cup is delicate while complex with earthy notes. We have a limited stock at the moment but you can get your hands on it in our Tea Boutique or online by clicking here. We will be working closely with the Amba Estate and helping to support them and their charitable work with Halfway Home Mulleriyawa – a psychiatric hospital for women in Sri Lanka.

Chari-TEA

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

We are very proud to now be a member of B1G1! This means that every cup of tea or tea caddy sold during October, eteaket will give a child in India clean drinking water for a day. We have partnered with B1G1 to help give something back – this is only the start so watch this space…

We were also part of Macmillans Biggest Coffee Morning last week. Serving up some rather naughty green cupcakes and getting involved in the green theme of the day, we raised a lot of money that we have donated to the charity. We hope that everyone else’s coffee Mornings were as successful as ours and that a lot of money has been raised!

We are also proud to be donating tea to local charities in Edinburgh. We know the importance of a decent cuppa’ and aim to provide this to as many people as possible

Charity Big Breakfast

Friday, April 30th, 2010

eteaket helped at the Edinburgh Breakfast Club’s Big Breakfast event on 27 April in support of local charities “Fischy Music” and “Tong-Len”. Despite the very early start, the venue was at capacity with 80 attendees all enjoying breakfast and loose-leaf tea. Over £2,000 was raised for these very good causes. Please click the links to find out more about these very inspiring charities.

The Rotary Club of Edinburgh Breakfast normally meet at The Dunstane House Hotel, 4 West Coates, EH12 5JQ at 7.10am every Tuesday. Click here for more info.

Join eteaket’s Knitting Circle

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

We’re launching our Knitting Circle on Thursday 15 Oct (5.30pm till 7pm). Our initial aim is to knit goodies to put with other gifts into shoeboxes as part of Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is the UK’s largest children’s Christmas appeal and has been running for over 19 years (it’s organised by the Samaritan’s Purse). They work with local churches and charities overseas to ensure that gift-filled shoeboxes get delivered by hand to children who need it most in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (regardless of their background or beliefs).

If you would like to get involved, please just turn up on Thurs 15th around 5.30pm (or contact us at hello@eteaket.co.uk if you have any queries). We’re aiming to meet every fortnight after that in the run up to Christmas.

eteaket joins the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Monday, October 5th, 2009

We had a great time in eteaket on Friday raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Thanks to all our customers who bought raffle tickets and to our amazing staff who donated their tips for the day.

Charity Tea Dance a big success

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

A big thank you to everyone who came along to the SuperJam charity tea dance at Meadowbank on 13 August (including my mum who helped pour about 300 cups of tea). Our new Edinburgh Blend was a big hit with the guests – our dancing skills were sadly lacking but never mind!

Thanks to SuperJam and The Pilmeny Development Project for all their hard work in orgainising the event. We’ll keep you posted on future tea dances.

SuperJam Tea Party Thursday 13 August

Monday, August 10th, 2009

eteaket is again supporting SuperJam at the next Tea Party on Thursday 13 August at Meadowbank Stadium (www.superjam.co.uk/blog) . We’ll be launching our Edinburgh Blend in front of an expected crowd of 200 discerning elderly guests. Our Edinburgh Blend is available from today in our cafe at 41 Frederick St, Edinburgh. We’ll let you know how we get on and whether we manage to avoid line dancing this time.

eteaket has gone Tea-potty for Save the Children

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

eteaket went Tea-potty for Save the Children week (27 April to 3 May) by donating £1.50 of every one of our tea & cake offers to the charity. The funds raised will go towards Save the Children’s largest ever campaign to highlight how easy it can be to save a child’s life. 10 million children die each year before their 5th birthday – Save the Children are working flat out to change that. We really appreciate our customers’ support last week to help this campaign.

We love SuperJam

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

We have now joined forces with SuperJam and are helping to support their charity tea parties. At the start of April we served a selection of our teas to around 200 elderly people at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh- the photos below show Fraser Doherty (aka The Jam Boy) sampling some eteaket tea and some of the guests dancing the afternoon away.

We’re already looking forward to the next party. Please contact us if you are interested in helping in some way.

Check out Fraser’s blog here – I’m loving the rubber tea cosy.

Tea Party a great success

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Our Tea Party last Thursday was a big success and really helped us celebrate the launch of eteaket. Thanks to everyone involved. The jazz band, tea cocktail mixologists and tea leaf reader were all fabulous. We even made it into The Scotsman http://living.scotsman.com/features/The-leaf-takes-on-the.5100747.jp

Here are some photos… Due to popular demand we’ll be getting the Tea Leaf reader back soon to teach us all how to read the leaves.
