exciting ‘meet the author’ Book Group meeting 8th Feb

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

We’re very excited about our next book group meeting on Wed 8 Feb. Please come and join us if you can – don’t worry if you’ve not had time to read the book!

We’ve managed to arrange for bestselling Edinburgh author Sara Sheridan to come along to chat about her new book Secret of the Sands. The meeting is on Wed 8 Feb from 5.30pm to 7pm but from then on we’ll meet on the 1st Wed of every other month!

Here’s a wee summary of the book: “Set against the backdrop of the British abolition of the Slave Trade in 1833 Secret of the Sands is based on the travels of Indian Navy Lieutenant, James Raymond Wellsted, who crossed the Arabian Peninsula. Wellsted was a celebrity in his day – particularly noted for being open-minded. A precursor of Burton, Lawrence and Thesiger, the auther wanted to evoke the danger this dashing naval officer faced, both from his native travelling companions and the hostile terrain. Of course, the story would not have been complete without the character of Zena, the Abyssinian slave girl with whom he falls hopelessly in love.”

It should be a fun meeting with plenty of tea and nibbles. We really hope you can make it (and if you know anyone who may be interested please spread the word). p.s. and yes it’s a free event! xx

eteaket loyal-TEA Keep Cup

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

The mornings are definitely getting darker, and here at eteaket we are in desperate need of some motivation to get out of bed on these dark and dreary mornings!

So we are brightening your journey to work with our fantastic resuesable takeaway cup, the Keep cup. Not only do they look fantastic but are lightweight, environmentally friendly, dishwasher safe, microwaveable and splash proof. They also last 4 years! And for those of you braving these winter mornings and putting us all to shame by still exercising, they fit into bicycle bottle holders!

To sweeten the deal we are also holding a keep cup challenge, simply:

1. Buy one of our fantastic Keep cups: £9.99 and to say thanks we will fill it for free, (well we don’t want you leaving empty handed).

2. Everytime you use your Keep Cup we will give you 10% off your drinks purchase.

3. When you buy your Keep Cup we will enter you into our Keep Cup competitors board. Every time you use your Keep Cup you’ll get a tally on the competitors board.

The person with the most tallys at the end of November will win an Afternoon Tea for two!

Chari-TEA

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

We are very proud to now be a member of B1G1! This means that every cup of tea or tea caddy sold during October, eteaket will give a child in India clean drinking water for a day. We have partnered with B1G1 to help give something back – this is only the start so watch this space…

We were also part of Macmillans Biggest Coffee Morning last week. Serving up some rather naughty green cupcakes and getting involved in the green theme of the day, we raised a lot of money that we have donated to the charity. We hope that everyone else’s coffee Mornings were as successful as ours and that a lot of money has been raised!

We are also proud to be donating tea to local charities in Edinburgh. We know the importance of a decent cuppa’ and aim to provide this to as many people as possible

Chocolate & Tea Tasting

Monday, June 7th, 2010

We ran a free tea tasting session with Chocolate & Love this afternoon and came up with some winning combinations. My favourite was eteaket’s Bollywood Dreams Chai tea with Filthy Rich dark chocolate – the tea really brought out the spices in the chocolate.

Our Blooming Marvellous green tea worked amazingly well with the Dark Strawberry & Pepper chocolate and our old favourite Chilli Rooibos was a big hit with the Dark Chilli chocolate – quite a kick.

We’ll be running more ad hoc tasting sessions so watch this space, sign up to our newsletter by emailing hello@eteaket.co.uk or follow us on www.twitter.com/eteaket or www.facebook.com (search for eteaket).

Chocolate & Love will be at the Taste Festival in London from 17-20 June where you’ll be able to try some eteaket teas and fabulous chocolate.

Learn to read your own tea leaves

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Back by popular demand – your chance how to learn to read your tea leaves.

Ever gaze at the bottom of a cup to see the patterns that form from the left over tea-leaves? The different leaves that fall and the dust that gathers around has intrigued Psychic’s from Russel Grant to Mystic Meg for many years. It is said that the collection of these leaves can accurately predict the future, using the shapes and patterns that are formed not only in the base of the cup, but the saucer also.

eteaket has teamed up with experienced tea leaf reader Lauren to offer you the chance to learn to read your own tea leaves. Lauren has visited eteaket before with impressive results and with over 8 years of experience under her belt you’ll be in good hands.

The next event is on Tuesday 18 May, 6.30 to 9.30pm. It costs £19.99 per person and includes tea and scones.

Please email hello@eteaket.co.uk to register your interest. Thanks!
