We’re pleased to be donating £1,000.00 to charity today on ‘Giving Tuesday’. £650.00 of that is going to the superb mental health & wellbeing charity, Health In Mind, largely through sales of our Tea Advent Calendar and limited edition blend, Keep The Heid. Thanks for all your support this year… we really couldn’t have got this far without you! The money will be put to very good use. It could pay for 11 hours of special trauma counselling or even train and support 6 volunteer befrienders.
The rest of our donation is going to Social Bite to help them in their bid to end homelessness in Scotland. Thanks to everyone who has purchased our Positivitea tea to help us raise this amount!
#writingtosayhello
Loneliness is well known as one of the biggest factors affecting our wellbeing today and connecting with other people has never been more important. Properly connecting with other humans, whether over a pot of tea or taking them time to handwrite a personal message, has a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing and is a great way to remind ourselves that we’re important and valued by others.
Unfortunately, especially given the current crisis, more and more people are reporting that they feel more lonely and lack real connections. With life rapidly moving online, including the way we communicate with each other, it’s vital that we stay connected with those around us.
We can all feel lonely from time to time, and feeling lonely is not always the same as being alone. Loneliness has been said to be the feeling that we get when our need for meaningful and rewarding social contact and relationships isn’t being met, and it can have a real negative impact on our mental health.
What you can do
Health In Mind are encouraging everyone to use the simple act of sending a postcard to build connections and remind others that you are there and are thinking about them.
It’s moving conversations away from sending a quick text without much thought, to one in which we slow down and take the time to connect with each other in a meaningful way. The campaign has building relationships and connections at its heart.
We challenge you to make a connection with someone in your community. Whether you decide to write to a friend, your family, colleagues or neighbours, you can take the time to say ‘hello’ by downloading and printing off one of Health In Mind’s postcards at the bottom of this page. You’ll can also pick one up from our Tea Room (while stocks last :).
Festive edition postcard
There’s also a brilliant festive edition postcard, which you can download at the bottom of this page too!
