Catch up over a cuppa and join us in supporting the Samaritans’ Brew Monday campaign this year. There’s no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’ – good days and bad days can happen any time and there’s no reason why the third Monday in January should be ‘the most difficult day of the year’.
Rather than making us all sad, we agree that it’s more helpful to encourage each other to start a conversation over a brew! So reach out and connect with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones.
Each of us can spare a little time for a cuppa and a catch-up, whatever day it is and whatever you’re sipping. We welcomed tea lovers to our Edinburgh tea room this morning for a free cuppa and a chat.
We can always make time for a cuppa and a catch-up. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Monday morning or Saturday night, or if you’re drinking green tea, black coffee or orange juice. If you’re sharing a cuppa and listening, you’re doing it right. If you get a sense that someone would like to share how they’re feeling try to listen without offering advice, without identifying what they’re going through with your own experiences and without trying to solve their problems.
The Samaritans have some great tips on how to be a good listener… Check out their Brew_Monday_tips_leaflet for more info and their SHUSH active listening tips.
By giving a donation or fundraising for Samaritans on Brew Monday, you’ll help make sure there’s always someone there for anyone who’s going through a tough time.
£5 is all it takes to cover the costs of Samaritans answering a call for help.
The quickest and easiest way to give a donation is online at: samaritans.org/brew-fundraising
