As part of eteaket’s Cuppas for Causes campaign, eteaket are joining forces with Aberlour Children’s Trust and Buy1Give1 to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Edinburgh and Assam.
Aberlour work placement programme
Over the next 12 months, eteaket will run a work placement programme with some of Aberlour’s young people at their Frederick Street tea room in Edinburgh. Over 5 weeks the trainee will gain knowledge and first-hand experience of the hospitality industry, learning from management and staff alike.
Many of the young children Aberlour support throughout Scotland face great challenges and with this in mind, eteaket are keen to help support Aberlour in achieving its vision to ensure every child is encouraged to fulfil their potential with the eteaket work placement.
Angela Lyons, General Manager at eteaket said, “We were incredibly excited to work with Aberlour once again, and this time with a brand new initiative. Over 5 weeks the trainee will gain a positive experience in every area of the industry, developing skills that we know to be so transferable in the workplace no matter what direction the trainee chooses to take.”
Education support in India
In conjunction with this commitment, since eteaket source a lot of their teas from India they felt it was important to give something back in that area as well. So for every new wholesale customer they get, eteaket will provide a child in Parijat Academy in Assam with a month’s education through the Buy1Give1 scheme. They have already given 3,030 days of education support to disadvantaged children there during October 2015.
Parijat Academy is a school for underprivileged children in Assam India. It’s a non religious and non profitable school providing free education for children of families with low income. Eteaket will be working with the school on an ongoing basis providing children at the Academy the opportunity for education.
Erica Moore, Founder and MD of eteaket said, “ eteaket are very proud to work with the incredible Buy1Get1 scheme. By enabling Parijat Academy to provide free education to vulnerable children our wholesale customers will allow this vital education to continue”
eteaket’s Cuppas for Causes initiative which launched in 2014 has already had a range of successes. The latest being the Breakfast of Champions which was a great success in raising both funds and awareness for Aberlour’s local services.
On 26 November 2015 eteaket will be opening their doors late with a complimentary evening at eteaket (1830-2100) in order to celebrate and award Aberlour’s first young person, Alice on completing eteaket’s 5 week Work Placement Programme. The evening will also include a guest speaker from Santander, delicious cake samples from eteaket’s bakers, a Tea Cocktail masterclass and tea tasting. Everyone is welcome, please just email eteaket at hello@eteaket.co.uk if you’d like to put your name down.
