Our Japanese Matcha Bowl Kumo is a traditional and striking example of this must-have preparation tool. Did you know ‘Kumo’ means clouds in Japanese?

How to prepare Ceremonial Matcha tea in this traditional purpose-made Kumo bowl:

Firstly, add the desired amount of matcha tea with the traditional bamboo Matcha Spoon.

Then, add a little bit of cold water (1tsp), and with your bamboo Matcha Whisk work it slowly (not whisking yet) until it is a lump-free paste.

After this, add some hot water (more or less depending on if you are drinking it straight up of will add milk for a late).

Then, start whisking with the wrist – not the elbow – in a swift and energetic motion creating a ‘W’ shape. This means you are whisking back and forth in this motion, not in a circular motion. You will find that it will start to froth up and create the most delicious looking matcha. There is no need to press hard at all during the process – the delicate bamboo matcha whisk and purpose made Kumo bowl will make the creation of matcha a cloud filled breeze…

You can then pour your matcha tea from your bowl into your favourite cup or mug to enjoy straight up. Or you can make a matcha late by heating milk and adding this to your matcha. You can also add a squeeze of honey. Finally, after rinsing your Matcha whisk with care, you can keep it safe and damage free on the Matcha Whisk Stand.

This traditional Japanese Matcha Bowl Kumo provides the foundation for a Matcha tea, whisked to perfection.
