We’ve been developing our use of Sea Buckthorn in our tea for a few years and were very pleased to have found an amazing Scottish producer of Seabuckthorn right on our door step.

Sea Buckthorn Scotland CIC

The seabuckthorn berries contained in eteaket tea are sustainably sourced from Sea Buckthorn Scotland CIC; a social enterprise, based in East Lothian. The bright orange zingy-tasting berries are handpicked from the wild thorny shrubs on the sand dunes, along Scotland’s windswept East Coast.

Being a small local company passionate about the berries and our local environment, our carbon footprint is always kept to a minimum, while the berries, all carefully selected, are cared for through every step of the process – from being frozen immediately after harvest to being carefully washed and dried at a low temperature to bring you the freshest, tastiest and most vitamin rich products. Our annual harvest supports local council management plans to conserve the land and its habitats, and the shrubs themselves help to prevent dune erosion and protect our beautiful landscape.

Sea Buckthorn is a powerhouse of nutrition, being very high in vitamin C and Omega 7, it also contains Omega 3,6 and 9 and vitamins A, E and Beta Carotene also amongst the 190 bioactive nutrients. The dried berries have an earthy rich sour flavour which beautifully complements the Hibiscus and Cranberries in the our blend. ”
