Pu-Erh Tea
Pu’erh tea is a microbial fermented tea which has been produced in the rich lands of Yunnan in China for centuries. It has an earthy, rich, yet mellow flavour. Pu’erh – like fine wine – is valued for it’s vintage.
There are two varieties: Sheng (long fermentation) and Shou (short fermentation). Shou is only fermented for about 4-5 months and kept a maximum of 1-2 years before drinking. Sheng, on the other hand, can be kept indefinitely. This is presented in pressed tea cakes, bricks or disks.
The careful ageing of Pu’erh, along with the complexity of the processes, result in a balanced and truly refined tea.
