Besos de Cacao
Besos de Cacao
£4.45 – £39.95
Besos de cacao – chocolate kisses! This Colombian chocolate tea is renowned for its depth and quality. Grown in Valle del Cauca, in the tropical west of Colombia, the region’s warm climate, high humidity, and fertile volcanic soils create ideal growing conditions for expressive, gently sweet teas with exceptional body.
This indulgent cacao tea blends organically grown black tea with cocao shells and broken cacao cores, refined using genuine Colombian organic cacao sourced from Tumaco, Nariño. Celebrated for producing some of the world’s most aromatic cacao, this coastal region lends a naturally rich chocolate character without heaviness or added flavouring. The result is a beautifully balanced chocolate tea that is smooth, warming, and deeply satisfying.
In the cup, expect soft malted notes from the black tea, layered with rounded cocoa, subtle sweetness, and a lingering chocolate finish. It is comforting yet refined, offering the pleasure of chocolate with the clarity of tea. Enjoy it pure to appreciate its natural complexity, or add a splash of milk to enhance the cocoa depth.
Beyond its flavour, cacao carries deep cultural roots in the Americas. Long before chocolate became sweet or confectionery, cacao was valued for its aroma, bitterness, and grounding qualities. In Colombia, cacao has long been cultivated as both a food crop and a symbol of regional identity, particularly along the Pacific coast where Tumaco’s humid climate and rich soils produce cacao of exceptional quality. In this blend, cacao is treated not as a flavouring, but as an ingredient in its own right, respected for its natural character and heritage.
Besos de Cacao is a modern expression of this legacy. Rather than replicating ceremonial or traditional cacao drinks, it brings together Colombian black tea and native cacao in a contemporary infusion that celebrates place, provenance, and craft. Thoughtfully sourced, it offers a mindful way to enjoy cacao’s depth and warmth through the lens of tea.

Origin
Columbia
Colombia is best known for its coffee and cacao, but a small and growing tea culture is emerging in regions with rich volcanic soils and tropical microclimates, particularly in the west of the country. Colombian tea is typically produced in limited quantities, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and expressive flavour shaped by high humidity and fertile land. Tea drinking in Colombia often sits alongside herbal infusions and cacao-based beverages, enjoyed for both pleasure and wellbeing. Today, Colombian teas reflect a modern, craft-led approach, rooted in terroir and innovation rather than long-established tradition.
