A Chinese Green Tea Classic

Discover Gunpowder Deluxe, a distinctive Chinese green tea from Zhejiang Province, known for its tightly rolled leaves & wonderfully fresh, gently sweet flavour.

This traditional loose leaf green tea gets its unusual name from the small, dark green pellets that resemble old-fashioned gunpowder. Add hot water & watch as the tightly rolled leaves slowly unfurl, revealing their full shape & releasing their flavour.

It's a classic Chinese green tea with plenty of character, combining traditional craftsmanship with a refreshing, satisfying taste.

What Does Gunpowder Deluxe Taste Like?

Expect a gently sweet green tea with subtle earthy notes & a delicate peppery edge.

The tightly rolled leaves produce a distinctive brew that balances natural sweetness with a slightly savoury depth. It's a brilliant choice for anyone who enjoys a green tea with a little more character.

From China to Moroccan Mint Tea

Originally developed in China, Gunpowder green tea has travelled well beyond its homeland & become an important part of Moroccan tea culture.

In Morocco, Gunpowder green tea is traditionally brewed with fresh mint & sugar, creating the famous Moroccan mint tea, a fragrant, sweet & refreshing drink served as a symbol of hospitality.

Our Gunpowder Deluxe is a lovely tea to enjoy on its own, but it's also a brilliant base for making your own Moroccan-style mint tea at home.

How to Brew Gunpowder Green Tea

For the best flavour, brew Gunpowder Deluxe with water at around 80°C, rather than boiling water.

Using slightly cooler water helps bring out the tea's natural sweetness while avoiding excessive bitterness.

Watch the tightly rolled leaves open as they steep, then enjoy a beautifully refreshing Chinese green tea with a distinctive peppery finish.

A true green tea staple, with plenty of character in every leaf.
