How Tea Became the Drink of Choice for the Sober Curious

How Tea Became the Drink of Choice for the Sober Curious

How Tea Became the Drink of Choice for the Sober Curious: There’s a new way to drink, and it’s all about balance.

Even across age-groups, more people are choosing to rethink their relationship with alcohol. From Dry January and mindful drinking to the growing sober curious movement, the desire to drink less has become less about restriction and more about making choices that help us feel our best.

But choosing less alcohol doesn’t mean choosing less enjoyment.

Most of us aren’t looking to give up the occasional celebration, dinner with friends or a beautifully crafted cocktail. We’re simply becoming more conscious about what we pour into our glasses. We want drinks that feel special, taste incredible and fit into a lifestyle that balances indulgence with wellbeing.

Whilst not everyone is choosing to be completely teetotal, low and no alcohol options are surging forward, offering a new generation of drinks that are sophisticated, exciting and designed to be enjoyed.

And one drink is quietly becoming the perfect companion for this new way of living: tea.

Tea is having its moment

Tea has always been part of our daily rituals, but it’s no longer just something you reach for in the morning.

Today, tea is about experience. It’s about discovering new flavours, creating moments of calm and enjoying a little luxury in your everyday routine.

With endless flavour combinations, from juicy fruits and warming spices to delicate florals and refreshing herbs, tea offers the same sense of discovery that makes exploring a cocktail menu so enjoyable.

Sober Curious?

For those considering sober or cutting down, it isn’t about saying no or depriving ourselves. It’s about asking what makes us feel good.

For many people, cutting back on alcohol means enjoying clearer mornings, better sleep, more energy and a greater appreciation for everyday moments. But the ritual of having a drink remains something many people still love.

That’s where tea comes in.

A beautifully brewed tea creates the same pause at the end of a busy day. It gives you something to look forward to, something to savour and something that feels like a treat, without the effects of alcohol.

Tea mocktails: the new way to socialise

One of the reasons tea has become such a popular alcohol alternative is its versatility.

Tea can be transformed into sophisticated alcohol-free drinks that feel just as celebratory as a cocktail. Cold brewed teas, sparkling serves and fruit-filled mocktails bring colour, flavour and creativity to any occasion. Have a browse through our extensive recipe blog and start experimenting.

Whether you’re hosting a summer BBQ, relaxing in the garden or having friends over for dinner, a tea mocktail feels like a little moment of luxury.

Because sometimes it’s not the alcohol we’re craving, it’s the ritual. The beautiful glass, the refreshing flavours, the feeling of enjoying something made just for you.

It’s a drink that can be enjoyed your way, whether that’s alongside your morning routine, as an afternoon refreshment or as your evening wind-down.
