Celebrate Whisky month & explore the spirit that has become one of Scotland’s biggest exports…

Whisky, or ‘the water of life’, has a rich history.  Surrounded with mystery and often produced on the sly, legends have been created around this spirit.  Over the past decade, the exports of Whisky have increased by 87%. Wow… and it makes up a quarter of all food & drinks revenue in the UK.  Did you know that Whisky’s approximate contribution to the UK economy is £4.25 billion!  Scottish Whisky has become iconic across the globe and is a treasured part of Scotland’s unique culture.  So, why not celebrate Whisky month this May!?

Not only do we have our Tomatin Whisky Tea but this month, eteaket was also featured in Whiskeria Magazine (published by The Whisky Shop).  So, this seemed like the perfect topic for our latest blog.

Have you tried our Tomatin Whisky Tea?

You could say that we have a soft spot for Whisky.  Tomatin is a single malt, Scotch Whisky produced in Tomatin (just outside of Inverness).  It is described as being the softer side of the highlands and if you click here you will be able to see one of our favourite pictures on their home page.

We teamed up with Tomatin and produced Europe’s first barrel aged whisky tea (pretty cool if you ask us).  It turns out that whisky & tea are a match made in heaven, truly the water of life.  We didn’t want to artificially flavour the tea so eteaket’s Ange set out to create a pioneering and innovative blend.  The tea is a blend of 3 black teas, natural bergamot and a sprinkling of cornflowers aged in a Tomatin whisky barrel.

When brewed for three minutes, your cup will reveal a rich whisky colored liquor.  When sipping, you can detect the familiar complex smoky taste but just like Tomatin Whisky, you get softer notes on your pallet.  Be warned, it is seriously addictive even for non-whisky drinkers and is perfect for when the hand is not quite on 5 o’clock.

eteaket is featured in Whiskeria this Summer

Whiskeria is a magazine that is all about Whisky.  It is published by The Whisky Shop (a Whisky lovers heaven) and the kind team visited our Tea Room and Concept Store a few months ago.  We introduced them to the magical world of tea.  From tea lattes in our Tea Room to some tea blending lessons (with our new blend Nettle & Petal), we enjoyed every moment!  Check out the latest issue here (we are on page 47).
