Merry Matcha: A Little Festive Fuel

Merry Matcha: A Little Festive Fuel…

It is that time of year when the lights sparkle, the calendar fills up, and everything can feel just a little more hectic than usual. Between gatherings, shopping and endless to-do lists, many of us find ourselves needing a gentle lift to stay focused and calm.

Matcha offers exactly that. Unlike the sharp rise and fall often associated with coffee, matcha provides a smoother, more balanced sense of energy. This is thanks to its combination of caffeine and L-theanine, often called the happiness chemical, which helps promote a calm but alert state. In the busiest season of the year, a bit of that balance can go a long way.

To help you stay fuelled and festive, here are two seasonal matcha recipes with a Christmas twist…

Iced Candy Cane Matcha

A refreshing, subtly minty drink that tastes like winter in a glass.

Gather…

  • 2g of Ceremonial Matcha

  • 2 tsp of homemade peppermint syrup (or a good-quality shop bought)

  • Milk of your choice

  • Ice

Method…

  • Add 1/2 tsp matcha powder to a bowl or large shallow mug.
  • Add a few drops of cold water & mix with the matcha to form a paste until smooth with no lumps.
  • Add around 60ml of just below boiling water (80°C ideally)
  • Following a W pattern whisk using a bamboo whisk or small electric matcha whisk.
  • Continue to whisk until you have a lovely froth with tiny bubbles.
  • In your serving glass fill 2/3rd with milk, add your syrup and pour over the brewed Ceremonial Matcha.
  • If you’re feeling extra festive, pop in a cady cane.

Matcha Egg-nog Latte

A creamy and lightly spiced drink inspired by classic eggnog flavours, without using eggs.

Gather…

  • 2g of Ceremonial Match

  • A pinch of grated nutmeg, plus extra for serving

  • 1 tsp condensed milk for richness

  • Milk of your choice

  • In a pan or using a steam wand combine the nutmeg, enough milk to fill 2/3 of your mug and the condensed milk and heat to latte consistency.
  • In your serving cup add the brewed Matcha & top with the heated milk & a grating of nutmeg.

A few thoughtful moments with a festive cup in hand can make the season feel calmer and more enjoyable. Wishing you a more relaxed, gently boosted Advent, with plenty of matcha to keep you steady all the way to Christmas.
