
Drink recipes for Dad…
This Father’s Day, forget the usual socks and neckties – it’s time to raise a glass to Dad with something a little more inspired. Whether he’s a cocktail connoisseur or just loves a good cuppa, we’ve brewed up some bold, booze-free and low-alcohol drink recipes for Dad – each with a delicious twist of tea.
From the smoky allure of our Lapsang Souchong ‘Smoke & Coke’, to the herbaceous hit of a Green Tea & Basil Smash, and a richly refined Old Fashioned made with our Tomatin Barrel Aged Tea – these drinks are the perfect way to toast the man of the moment.
Packed with flavour, simple to make, and steeped in love – these Father’s Day drink ideas will surprise and delight, no matter his tipple of choice.
Smoke & Coke
Gather
- 2 tsp. Lapsang Souchong
- 30ml homemade ‘Coca Cola’ Syrup
- Sparkling water
- 1 lemon
- Ice
‘Coca Cola’ Syrup:
- 100 ml water
- 100g dark demerara sugar
- 5ml vanilla extract
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
Add the sugar, vanilla & cinnamon to a pan with the boiled water, stir until
dissolved. Simmer until thickened, allow to cool before use.
Method
- Brew 2 tsp. of Lapsang Souchong in 300ml of freshly boiled water, steep for 3 minutes, remove the leaves and allow to cool.
- In a mixing glass stir in the cooled tea with the syrup & stir.
- Pour over ice into 2 glasses.
- Top up each glass with sparkling water.
- Garnish with a lemon wheel.
Positivitea Basil Smash
- 1 tsp.Positivitea
- 100ml Cloudy apple Juice
- Cucumber
- Fresh Basil
- 15g Sugar
- Tonic Water
- Lemon
- Ice
Method
- Boil freshly drawn water and leave to cool for a few minutes- Add in 10g of Positivitea in 200ml of the cooled water for 5-7 minutes; you want a
strong infusion for maximum flavour. - After 7 minutes remove the leaves and stir in 10g of Sugar whilst the tea is still hot enough for it to fully dissolve.
- Roughly chop 2 inches of cucumber and add it to a cocktail shaker, remove the leaves from 2-3 sprigs of Basil. Add them to the shaker with the
apple juice and gently muddle. - Squeeze and measure out 20ml of lemon juice and add it to the shaker, followed by the now cool tea.
- Top with ice and shake for 15 seconds.
- Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass and top with tonic water.
- Garnish with a sprig of basil and a cucumber spear.
Tomatin Whisky Old fashioned
Gather
- Tomatin Whisky Barrel Aged Tea
- 1 Orange
- Maple Syrup
- Angostura Bitters
- Ice
Method
- Brew 2 tsp of Tomatin Whisky Tea in 300ml of boiling water, remove the leaves after 5 minutes.
- Whilst the tea is brewing carefully cut 2 thin strips of orange rind a couple of cm thick.
- Cut the orange in half and squeeze out 30ml of juice.
- In a mixing glass add 20ml of maple syrup, orange juice and a big dash of Angostura Bitters.
- Add in the strained cooled tea, top with ice and stir for a couple of seconds to chill.
- Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice.
- Wrap the orange zest around the straw and gently squeeze to release the oils into the glass & drop in the zest.
