What a year 2022 was! Whilst we like everyone faced challenges, we do have lots to celebrate, we drank countless cups of delicious tea – new and old. Created lots of new and exciting products, strengthened our partnerships across the board and achieved many long term goals. Join us to recount our highs of the past year!
January
Fresh off the back of our bespoke tea creation with the Scottish Ballet. We launched our Self Care box at the start of the year, we’re all about wellness here at eteaket. We also wanted to highlight one of our many local suppliers – Sea Buckthorn Scotland
who grow harvest and dry the berries for our Sea Buckthorn tea!
February
Was the month of love! We turned our hand to personalising our Chinese Tea Hearts specifically for Valentine’s Day. Your personalised messages made us smile (and a couple may have raised a couple of eyebrows!)
March
In March we celebrated International Women’s Day and launched Satemwa Malawi BOP, an amazing Malawi Black Tea. We chose this tea in particular due to the credentials of the tea garden. They were one of the first estates in Malawi to employ women and they have strict gender equality systems in place. Women are represented in all types of jobs from tea pluckers, to field supervisors, from carpenters & electricians to the assistant factory manager. The garden is certified Fair Trade, UTA and Rainforest Alliance.
April
In April we undertook a gargantuan renovation of our Tea Room; we removed the previous main counter to open up the space, welcoming in more light bright sunshine. We increased table capacity and enhanced our retail offering. We also introduced a brand new tea service to give our guests a more immersive tea drinking experience.
May
In May we were invited to be part of Scottish Library and Information Councils Keep the Heid and Read Campaign with our Keep the Heid Tea featured in libraries across Scotland encouraging users to take a moment to pause and rebalance with a good book and a cuppa!
Erica launched her signature ‘Thrive in 3’ online wellness program, a 6 week series of workshops empowering tea drinkers to use our tea in mind concept.
June
The start of the tea year brought a First Flush Darjeeling to our shelves – an exceptional tea from the Selimbong tea garden in the Mirk Valley area of Darjeeling, India. We have so many great ides for 2023 and we’re busy sourcing more unique and single estates teas – watch this space!
July
Whilst the balmy summer months feel long gone in December, you can always escape the chill with our summer 2022 small batch Tropical Tease – a lively infusion of apple, pineapple, mango, papaya, Green Mate & lemongrass delicious tropical infusion tea.
August
Ah August, and the first full Edinburgh Fringe since the covid-19 pandemic. Our city was awash with talent from round the world as we once again hosted the world’s biggest arts festival. We of course commemorated the moment with a new tea – Edinburgh Earl, featuring what else – thistles!
September
September brought with it the launch of our tea in mind teas. A true labour of love and a massive goal for us. Our mission here at eteaket is to empower you to pause, rebalance & thrive. We do this through our ‘thrive in 3’ tea routines – a wellness practice to promote positive mental wellbeing. Create these good habits and discover more about ‘tea in mind’
October
It wouldn’t be October without Pumpkin Chai! The eteaket fan favourite made a triumphant return to your mugs – we’re blown away every year how far we ship this to our customers globally. Pumpkin Chai packages departed from Scotland to letterboxes in Japan, Taiwan, Canada, France and the US to name few!
November
November was another hectic one – We launched our brand new website; our aim was to enhance your shopping experience, improve search functionality, optimise mobile shopping and make it easier to discover our tea range. We have so much more to rollout in 2023 too!
We also opened our Christmas store featuring our Thrive in 3 Advent Calendar and our festive small batch teas.
We were also thrilled to celebrate 40 years of Kyoto- Edinburgh friendship and welcomed delegates from the Kyoto Prefecture Government of Japan. As part of the welcoming committee we hosted tea ceremony in the gardens of Lauriston Castle, served tea in our Tea Room and hosted Kyoto week.
December
The final month of 2022 is here – so far we’ve served 100’s of festive afternoon teas. We created a bespoke tea blend for Aberfeldy Whisky to celebrate hot toddy day in January. We’ve almost completely sold out of our festive blends. Our new Around the World in 7 Teas tasting box hit our shelves alongside our introduction to tea masterclass!
