Tomatin Whisky Tea Bags were Europe’s first barrel-aged tea!  This eteaket tea is barrel-aged in a genuine whisky cask in one of Scotland’s famous Whisky Distilleries (the Tomatin Distillery). The Tomatin Distillery was established in 1897 and has been producing exceptional whisky deep in the Scottish Highlands ever since. This idyllic setting and naturally soft water of the Alt-na-Frith burn plus, tender Scottish barley is the key to their amazing spirit production . Distilled in the slim copper stills of the Tomatin Distillery a mellow, fruity spirit is born. Followed by barrel aging maturation high above sea level lets the subtle character of the distinctive Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies.

Barrel Aged Tea…

To create the Tomatin Whisky Tea Bags we blended three black teas from Assam, Ceylon and Fujian.  We have then added a touch of natural bergamot flavour and a sprinkle of cornflowers.  Then comes the magic part: we have worked with the Tomatin Distillery in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, who suspend our blend in their used whisky barrels. By letting the tea leaves age in this way, they naturally pick up the complex smoky and fruity flavours of the wooden whisky barrel.  What’s even better, we have managed to do all of this without overwhelming the character of the tea leaves themselves.  So we think that these Tomatin Whisky Tea Bags are really something to behold.
